Tell Us More About You And Body Acumen, LLC.

My goal in everything I do is to help my clients look and feel great from the inside out, so they can do the things they love to do confidently and without pain. I teach MELT classes. I also offer private MELT and Pilates sessions for those looking for more individualized attention. Finally, I am a Rodan + Fields consultant.

What Is It About Your Personal Journey That Caused You To Do What You’re Doing Now?

I discovered MELT when I was suffering from chronic neck pain. Traditional therapies had failed to help me, and I became open to trying alternative therapies. I was skeptical about MELT but also desperate, so I thought I had nothing to lose by trying it out. Within 9 weeks I was pain-free and couldn't believe it! That's when I knew I had to get certified.

I became a Pilates instructor after working 18 hour days at a corporate consultancy left me with severe tendinitis in both arms. Though I loved what I did, there was just no occupational or physical therapy that could offer me enough relief to get through my days. I had to quit, and that's when I became interested in health and wellness.

I became a Rodan + Fields consultant in the wake of the financial crisis. I had moved my business from city to city while living in New Jersey and had finally arrived in Cleveland.

Building clientele takes time, so I was looking for other flexible income-generating opportunities that I could engage in that would also allow me to build my other businesses and attend to my family. Rodan + Fields fit the bill!

What Is A Fear (Or Fears) That You Overcame During Your Journey?

So many fears come with running a business: will you make enough money, will people respond well to your classes/sessions and can you help them…? Life is so difficult. I'm always looking to make a positive impact. I want people to leave my sessions feeling so good they can conquer the world or whatever tasks at hand.

What Are A Few Things You've Learned About Yourself During Your Journey?

I am always pushing myself. I can never give up. Sometimes I definitely want to. The struggle to grow is real, and it is one I am working on.

Is There Any Advice You Would Give To Others Based On What You've Learned?

Believe in yourself and what you offer. Don't devalue your services. It's easy to lose confidence and discount, but it doesn't serve you well. Follow your light. You know what can make an impact. Focus on that and serve others. I think that is how you can succeed.

What's Your Hope Or Vision For The Future? What Are You Dreaming Will Come To Fruition?

Hahaha! I'm not sure. My vision often changes. One thing always remains true, though. I want to make an impact. I want to make a big one. I want to share this innovative method called MELT because it puts the power of healing in peoples' hands. One of the hardest things about chronic pain is that we start to depend on others to feel better. This is not only super expensive, but it gives us a sense of being out of control. With MELT people can learn how to assess and treat their bodies on their own time, in their own homes. It is so powerful.

What Is Something You Wish Other People Knew About You?

Are you stereotyped or do you feel like there's something the world needs to understand about you or your craft?

MELT is certainly misunderstood. (It is not a restaurant!!!) It is a powerful way to boost your body's healing mechanisms. It is an alternative to pain drugs. This summer I was invited to speak to residents at University Hospitals about MELT. I'm hoping the method becomes more mainstream as we tackle the opioid crisis.
