How a Hallmark Diary On a Warm Day in Michigan Inspired My Business
I stood in my grandparents’ driveway on a warm summer day in June, my sixth birthday. Before we went inside my mom handed me a gift: a Hallmark diary filled with lined, pink pages. It even had a little lock.
I could barely hold a pencil, but even at that young age I knew I held something magical in my hand.
Something that would change the trajectory of my life.
As I wrote the contents of my life in the years to come, the scribbled, crooked letters became more fluid, and I fell in love with writing and storytelling.
Five years after that birthday gift, I picked up my first camera and the idea of multimedia storytelling came to life. I still remember waiting for the rolls of film to develop, hoping my photos had turned out ok.
And so I knew that storytelling would always be part of my journey. Today, I know it's a gift to be shared to combat a sea of mediocre content and superficial marketing.
Today, I get to help business owners find and tell their stories in meaningful ways — ways to help their clients relate, understand and ultimately support their mission. And so, my story helps their story.
And that’s how one small diary in 1986 — one small, simple birthday gift — can impact thousands of people.
